Cosmic Humor* and the Americas,
in the Light of the Mysteries of the Mothers
*[I was once a member of an internet group studying European philosophers, such as French Deconstructionists, when a member wondered why Americans had not produced such genius. I thought about it for while, and replied that after World War One had passed, the whole world became logically absurd. As a consequence, those American minds at this level of genius became stand-up comedians and comic book artists – such Will Rogers, Walt Kelly (We have met the enemy and they are us) Robin Williams, George Carlin, and Bill Watterson, the creator of “Calvin and Hobbes”. Then there is Rock ‘n Roll, Hip Hop, Salsa, Reggae, as well as “Folk” songs by such as Woody Guthrie, and Nobel Prize winner in Literature: Bob Dylan. In addition there is America’s Shakespeare: David E. Kelley. These factoids become important later when we ask just how well the American Anthroposophical Society is grounded in American culture.]
A few words to introduce myself. I met Steiner, and Spiritual Science, in 1978 through his books. For the five previous years I had been a student Franz Bardon, and Hermetic Science. Mostly – in my spiritual work I am a self-published writer. Over four dozen books, 270 YouTube videos, and several hundred plus essays.
I am 82. My data stream entrance has these words “Welcome to the Aethereal Cave of a white-privileged, Christian, son of Montana, American citizen, shaman, and professional heretic.” The “name?” for this free library is: “finding the path to the future through the gateways of the past” (1)
The guidelines for Goetheanum writings involve editing by others. I politely suggest: That given that one would not dare to look at a painting by Raphael, thinking he should have used more blue there, and less red here, editors should perhaps be more reticent. Writing is art.
Even from a Zen point of view, if the “pot” is cracked, we use gold to maintain its original shape. Just saying.
Rudolf Steiner has indicated that the soul is formed out of an interaction between the individual incarnating spirit and the local Geography.
In addition he suggests that the north south mountain ranges in the Americas is a sign of very different earth forces there. In “Geographic Medicine” he speaks of the “Double”, and that some sages of Europe came there to study this “Double”, which involves two types of spiritual beings, one more related to electricity, and the other to magnetism. My own studies are here. (2)
One causes physical illnesses, and the other neurological disorders. When I lived for five years with an anthroposophical doctor, I asked her if she and her peers studied the Doubles. She replied: “No.”
I work with an Imagination, where it is pictured that when European anthroposophists come to America, their soul is not grounded in this Soil.
The effects are subtle, … if we are born in the geography of the Americas our “Double” is far stronger, in order to be in balance with the nature of the Earth Forces (“Titans”) in our arena of Earth existence.
My personal observations of the Society here are that its basic world view looks to the past, and to Europe. We are a community with a language, and the myths of Steiner said. Off the Earth. Isolated from the general cultural stream, as if She who has the world in His Hands, was the ephemeral Sophia and Friends. Not the Real, the storms and earthquakes and wars and illnesses and death.
There is another distinction to the Americas, which is that their aboriginal peoples’ Earth religions are still intact. The Hopi still hold their ceremonies and the Navajo still teach healers. The Hopi oral history remembers Atlantis, and their prophecies anticipated our current world crisis, which they name: “The Day of Purification”. (3)
In the Gospels, we hear that John the Baptist said that the One coming after him would baptize us in Fire and Holy Breath. I often write of “the dying and becoming of Western civilization”.
There is ahead of the Anthroposophical Society a trial, in America (the US of A). This is related to the spiritual fact that the Divine Feminine is taking a more obvious role in social affairs … emphasis on “more obvious”. The deeps of the Americas make shamans, not initiates or enlightened sages. The Society needs a heart’s mind that understands the value of a Pagan Anthroposophy, aka; the union of Hermetic Science and Spiritual Science (Joel Wendt), the marriage of Tibetan and Christian Alchemy (Catherine MacCoun), and the relationship between the Kabbalah and the Cosmology of Native Americans (Stephen Clarke). The Past uniting with the Present to produce the Future.
For the experience of Inspirational meetings with the Mother, we go naked of soul, free of ego, a mere “human” being in courtship and wonder. Not as a “science” project. If we seek Her as spiritual researchers, we find all the own flaws we bring mirrored right back to us.
Words such as: “She has the whole world in His Hands”, “She is the nurturing organizer (Divine Providence) of Climate Change (a warning)”. “She is the Rider of the Four Horseman”. “She caused the Plague in order to give us a time out for reflection”. … words fail … Father One Mother Many.
She is Everywhere When. In the Garden, in innocence, we ate the fruit of the Wild. Worshiped Her. She is the Snake eating Her own Tail of a Tale. In this Way … setting Her children free to find themselves. There was no plan, just a dance.
In the depths of the Inner Earth resides a Power, that is in no way Evil. That Steiner told, that kind of story, stains his legacy, worsened by the many students who choose to believe he cannot error. He too had karma, and as an Aristotelian, he left a trail of bread crumbs to the Platonists, devotees of the Goddess Natura, the Mistress of the Holy Dark.
She’s Back!?! Never Left. Still Making Trouble. In the plastic and chrome giant tepees of the lost ones, there is no “dirt” allowed – the environment sanitized. The Planet as lifeless asset. We have forgotten how to read what is truly happening – can we even imagine having the power of generating earthquakes – what would it feel like to be one of what the Greeks called a Titan?
Still, … we, as the microcosm, share with the Macrocosm, consciousness. In Hermetics self-consciousness is symbolized as the element: Earth, while this “Earth” itself is a combination of Fire-Will Saturn; Air-Intellect Sun; Water-Feeling Moon.
Phenomenological studies of human social life (4) reveal that the individual biography is Holy (the religion of the Gods is humanity – RS). In this Epoch of the Consciousness Soul, the individual must face crisis after crisis in order draw out of themselves the good and the true. (5)
Death, Famine, War, and Conquest, are the byproducts of the need for crisis. The Hymns for a Sacrament by Fire and Holy Breath.

Anthroposophical Leading Thoughts,
for the Next One Hundred Years
It is a Question of Scale, and How the Part can Serve the Whole. The Dying and Becoming of Western Civilization – Chaos precedes New Life.
She has the Whole World in His Hands (from His Birth to His Death – see Raphael’s “Madonna and Child” and Michelangelo’s “Pieta”). Genesis describes the creation of Heaven (the Father) and Earth (the Mother), before God says: Let There Be Light.
Rudolf Steiner Was the John the Baptist figure of the Second Becoming of Christ in the Realm of Living Thought … the voice crying in the wilderness of scientific materialism.
Love Creates the Individual Human Biography as Holy. [the Religion of the Gods is Humanity – RS]. What We think of, when We follow the News, is just Background Noise to this Age, when the Individual Heart’s Mind is – through Crisis – being Forged into the Sword of He who does not bring Peace.
The Rudolf Steiner Spirit had a Pedigree, what with having been Aristotle and so forth. He also moved on. Can we let that name die, and seek the Now? (If one is paying attention to the World Song, we will find Hermes and Solomon and Raphael-Novalis in attendance. Ahriman as well. Even now, there is a bodhisattva incarnation of the future Maitreya Buddha. There are Rumors, that he who had been Abraham is also Here.
The Circumstances ask for a Michaelic Spring Festival. Each Earth Day is to be Celebrated Annually, with Environmental Groups filing suits against apex predator corporations in Courts of Law, where the Planet is the named plaintiff. “If a Corporation can be a Person before the Law, then certainly a Planet can be a Person before the Law.”
It is not the point of this activity to win. This unusual event will draw the attention of media, and the goal is then reached when the question of the reality of the Goddess Natura moves into the Court of Public Opinion. [the Culmination – RS]
All over the World, various cultures are remembering their most ancient Earth Religions. The above Rite also gives Hope to those who feel called to all that is presently going on with this spirit recollection of the Holy Mother, aka: the Divinity of Nature.
The ancient religions had Goddesses. Yet, humanity had to learn to think of the Living Earth as a soulless “thing”. The appearance then of the three patriarchal monotheisms, that erased the Divine Feminine, came with Her Inspiration.
Those “religions” are a unity, just one religion, yet sung via three movements: God as Law (the Fall into Matter); followed by God as Love (the Turn, from the Fall, into Grace); and then, God as Surrender (the letting go of Matter, for a purely immaterial existence). “It matters to me, for Matter to be, and that I to Matter do matter”
Electromagnetism is the Father at Rest. Gravity is the Love of the Mother. Light (the weak nuclear force) comes from Life (the strong nuclear force).
Steiner’s works on the Science of Knowing are one Key (Head). Those so inspired wrote and write new Gospels of the Second Becoming. A second Key (Hands) is the works of Franz Bardon on the Hermetic Science of the Ancient Egyptians, aka: Magic. The third – and middle – European Key (Heart) is Valentin Tomberg, aka: Mystical Christianity.
The corresponding three Key grace is found among three Americans. Wendt unites Hermetic Science with Spiritual Science (Head). MacCoun unites Tibetan and Christian Alchemy (Heart). Clarke unites Kabbalah with Native American Cosmology (Hands).
The Past Marries the Present, giving Birth to the Future

It is possible to look at the world and despair. If we have faith (that is trust) in the Divine Mystery, we might suspect there is a deeper aspect, actually laid out right in the open … the world in all its elements being the Song of the Word.
Simply construct your image of reality, working from the individual biography outwards. A spirit comes to earth and lives a life, moment by moment, day by day, year by year.
Everybody interacts intimately with other spirits, according to karma to some degree. All these intimate and immediate personal experiences forge each life of spirit in the alchemist’s fire of a time spent in matter.
Open to and remember your own suffering in the waters of desire.
Ask yourself why you came to incarnate at this particular symphony of Nows. Accept and honor your courage.
Accept and honor the courage of others, so many of which may have suffering greater than yours.
Make a list of those who you wish were otherwise than they are. Presidents, drug lords, … think for as moment of whatever is the worst of deeds.
Consider the magic that their life too is built one moment, one hour, one year at a time.
Pause deeply now, feel the own dark ,,, picture your self committing murder or torture directly to another intimate spirit.
Or calm this power, and think of picking up a glass and throwing it against a painting on a wall.
Accept the reach or you own will in the halls and museums of your own biography … If you are there, God is there …
maybe you work against aspects of our experience, and favor others … that choice and that which follows the Mystery Trusts us to define what it means …
– is itself fire of own will … everyone has those
we are butterflies in the making, or mushrooms maybe …. where metamorphosis lives … that is the leading edge of creation
the world burns in the dying and becoming of Western Civilization … for now the tsunami of history is waves of chaos …fire and water …
does the weather not cry … or the seed bearers not work the fields … what we call climate is a lament … the skys unable to not join our woes …
to know god, consider the creator in your own soul, as well as the nurturer … or not, for freedom goes that deep … you are the igniting spark of the mystery each moment you act, …
the Way is simple … trust your own judgment and choose … everyone else is doing it …
