there are two books, written by the Divine Mystery, and neither of them appears in printed form ….

they intertwine, and reciprocally reinforce each other, yet have an important distinction …
the book of life is the book of our life, our biography … we read it everyday, if we wish, and have avoided becoming a creature of habit alone. we each receive personal teaching in the biography, which applies to us, and not to others …
as the book of life presents itself in events, it seems to come from the outside ….
the other book is the book of the own soul …
this is not a study of our peculiarities and other individual characteristics … this is a study of the universally human, as it appears to our direct study of our own inwardness.
we are co-writers of these books, as well … we are not passive readers, but interactive choice making explorers …
religious texts are dead, their initiating ideas reduced to words on a page, which is a kind of entombment of their truth …
the book of our life, and the book of the own soul, allow us to participate as a co-creator … we write into these books by our choices and actions, which means if you skip an object lesson as a youth, this necessary rite of passage will return and again and again in this life, until we notice its teaching and enact the practice out of our own heart’s intuitions …
see: the Labyrinth of the Day, and the Maze of the Spirit for a more poetic consideration …
